Last Stop: Agra Fort

So here we are. It's the end of the road, man. The Taj was everything I wanted it to be and more, but the best was yet to come. India is the gift that keeps on giving! It was my last day of sightseeing. On this day, we found ourselves at the Agra Fort. I'm going to keep it 100-- I had never heard of this place until we were en route. Side note: India has the best restaurant names. Eating Meeting? Eat Something? Bruh. Y'all kill me.

Back to my CRIMINAL lack of knowledge! The Agra Fort is extraordinarily impressive and beautiful. Part fortress and part palace, it has been described as a "walled city". With so many different buildings in the complex, that sounds about right. It is enormous. It has all the elegance, opulence, and majesty of an imperial palace. It is fucking amazing. Like almost everywhere else in India, you really do get an aura of a bygone era here. Words cannot do it justice. I totally felt like an old school explorer, like Indiana Jones. I love this architecture. I love India. Most importantly, I love that I was able to capture all these pics. Hey memory card, you the real MVP. Here are a few pics of the grounds:

I know it has been an eternity since I last updated, but y'all remember that the Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan for his late wife Mumtaz, right? Well every story has a villain and this one is no exception. Shah Jahan had a hating ass son named Aurangzeb who usurped the throne after killing some of his brothers. After taking over, he IMPRISONED Shah Jahan in a section here at the Agra Fort. The worst part? Look at Shah Jahan's view:

Damn, homie! Shah Jahan remained under house arrest for about 8 years until his death. You can see the Taj through many of the windows and openings in the area Shah Jahan was confined to. It's safe to say that Aurangzeb had absolutely zero chill. Cole world, no blanket.

Something in the distance caught my eye and reminded me that we are all the same worldwide. Here in this ancient structure was a young man in a Thierry Henry shirt trying to holla at some girls.

I see you, player! It was time to go back to our hotel to ready and rest for dinner. It was my last full day in India and it couldn't have been any better. Oh wait... yes it could. On the next episode: Izzy gets caught in the middle of a wedding procession. OF COURSE I WOULD.
